Asalamu Alaikum respected parents, guardians, and students at Irfan college,
It has been an inspiring third term with Year 8 Science studying the ‘All systems go’ topic with online learning and the extended lockdown. Despite our circumstances, our resilient scientists ploughed through and accomplished amazing feats whilst facing many technological, social and emotional challenges. Together we have explored the hierarchy of living livings from the cellular level all the way up to the complex systems involved in maintaining functional organism. We also virtually viewed specimens under the microscope and learnt how to correctly draw scientific diagrams of various animal and plant cells. Alhumdulilah, we have shared many wonderful experiences this term. Some of our highlights include:
• Virtual microscopy
• Superhero cell organelles
• Making cell models at home
• Competing in end of term Kahoots related to the topic
• Science Week 2021 escape room (remote version): Food – Different by Design
• Using Stile to actively engage and assess learning throughout the term.
MashaAllah, I highly commend all the year 8 students for their brilliant efforts in completing their research multimedia assessment task to a very high standard and also for their weekly persistence in completing assigned work.
Lastly, I would like to thank all of our endearing parents and/or caregivers for their support in this online learning journey we have tackled together.
Well done Year 8!!
