Year 7 Science Term 3 2021

Posted by Ms Nancy El Assaad on 15 September 2021

Asalamu Alaikum respected parents, guardians, and students at Irfan college,

It has been a tumultuous third term with online learning in progress across NSW and the extended lockdown. Despite our circumstances, our resilient scientists ploughed through and accomplished amazing feats whilst facing many technological, social and emotional challenges. The ‘Invisible pillars’ unit of work covered throughout the term allowed our students to explore space science and forces integrated with Islamic pedagogy and principles. Our students were asked to reflect on verses of the Quran, stories of our Prophet (pbuh) and questions like how do forces and motions (relative matter) connect us to the Necessary Being (Allah, Most High)?

Alhumdulilah, we have been given the opportunity to share many wonderful engaging learning experiences this term. Some of our highlights include live lessons and demonstrations, modelling the sizes of the components in of solar system, kahoots and lastly using Stile a new online interactive learning platform for students to actively engage in and assess their own online learning throughout the term.

MashaAllah, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed guiding and watching our tech savvy students work in groups and confidently present an array of different topics for their assessment task. I commend you all for your efforts and persistence and thank all of your caregivers for their support in this online learning journey.

Well done Year 7 and rest up, as you genuinely deserve this term break!!
