Year 10 | 5.2 Mathematics Term 2 2021

Posted by Mr Halil Ordukaya on 23 June 2021

Assalama Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatu,

This term, we looked at the core principles of algebraic expressions and indices. One of the interesting sections of this chapter was the ability to model an equation based on exponential growth and decay. The students really enjoyed the real-life application of these equations to various scenarios such as the growth rate of bacteria, the depreciation costs of a new car and population increase. We then moved on to learning probability which included a brief revision of the concept of chance and an event occurring. We then looked at the idea of Venn diagrams and why they are so important to calculate probability based on overlapping events. Overall, the students enjoyed the topics taught.
