Stage 5 History

Posted by Sammy Aweida on 5 July 2022

Assalamu Alaykum parents, caregivers and students.

Students in Stage 5 (Year 9 and 10) have been studying the modern period from the industrial revolution up to the cold war era of the 1990’s. the key concepts of cause and effect were the core of each topic. Students looked at key events that led to the creation of the modern world.

Year 9 uncovered the impacts of the industrial revolution on the world and how it influenced the creation of Australia. This was followed by the study of Australia becoming a nation and process of federation. Students have also learnt how to write historically and analyse sources from the past.

Year 10 determined the reasons behind the civil rights movements in Australia and the influence of the cold war on the current world today. A focus on ideology and key concepts helped students understand the underlying forces during the cold war.

Well-done to stage 5 history, I’m looking forward to our new semester studying Geography.
