PDHPE/SPORT - T4 2020

Posted by Mr Said on 16 December 2020
Dear Parents, Caregivers, Students and Community Members,

Assalamu-Alaikum,

As we move into the end of Term 4,  of what has been a hugely challenging year, for all students, staff and parents, we were still committed in applying a range of new and exciting physical activities, learning strategies, and units in both Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.

We had hoped for some PDHPE excursions,  outside sport (Faith Shield, Futsal Tournament,  Zone Competition), to go ahead this term but unfortunately, we must lean on the side of caution regarding the health and safety of all students and staff.

Moving into 2021, we hope to regain some sense of normality particularly concerning some of the PDHPE inspired school events and programs as they have a hugely positive impact on our students and the school community.

We still did however, provide our students with sporting opportunities in school with the Western Sydney Wanderers Soccer program, Brotherhood Boxing program, and a Taekwondo Program for our Primary School students.

We are also pleased to announce that Irfan College will be apart of the Harmony Cup in 2021 for Primary and High School. This initiative is where Islamic Schools can participate every term in various sporting competitions such as:

-Tee ball
-Softball
-Cricket
- Swimming
-Athletics
-European Handball
-Basketball
-Indoor Soccer

We are very excited to be part of the Harmony Cup and will provide further details in the new year.

A few reminders for 2021:

All students must have a hat and dressed in full sports uniform for all P.E lessons.

Please try to limit the amount of junk food you are packing in your child/s lunch box. Fresh fruit, vegetables and healthy wraps, sandwiches and/or meal options are what young people need to grow.

Homework will be given on a weekly basis now on Google Classroom. Please check your child/s diary and Google Classroom for updates on homework and set tasks.

Inshallah you all have a restful holiday with family and friends. I look forward to a fantastic 2021 with our amazing students and staff.

Wasalam,

Mr Said Kabalan
